New density functionals for strongly correlated systems. 

We invite applications for two postdoc positions on density functional theory and applications.  Position A is available immediately for three years while position B will be available on April 2011 for two years. The work integrates a project on the development of new density functionals  for strongly correlated systems inspired on the Gutzwiller approximation for lattice models and is founded by the Italian Institute of Technology (IIT).  The project will be in collaboration with A. Filippetti and V. Fiorentini from University of Cagliari.  The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. an a background in one or more of the following topics: developing of density functionals, applications of DFT, strongly correlated systems, quantum chemistry, quantum Monte Carlo. Collective Animal Behaviour: experiments, theory and computational methods.

Two postdoctoral positions are available in the Collective Behaviour Group. The positions are funded by the IIT project ART-SWARM, focusing on the experimental and theoretical study of collective behaviour in bird flocks and insect swarms, and its potential applications to artificial systems. Each position is for 1+1 year, starting as early as March 2010 and not later than October 2010. Salary will be in line with Marie Curie (EC) standards.
